Welcome to Steve Lowen Art

Steve’s artwork is inspired by the beauty, quirks, and flaws of everyday life. Specialising in botanical drawings and food still lifes, he works primarily in coloured pencil, watercolour, graphite and oils. His style is realistic, often figurative, and always focused on authenticity and connection.

Based at the Clocktower business centre Hollingwood in Chesterfield, his work has been exhibited across the UK, published internationally, and is held in private collections worldwide.

Commissions 

Steve produces several commissioned pieces a year. The majority of the work shown on this site is for sale. Exhibitions, Publications & Recognition

Over the past decade, Steve’s work has gained widespread recognition. His drawings have been shown in exhibitions across the UK and featured in leading publications. Most recently, one of his artworks was shortlisted for the SAA – Artist of the Year 2024, a prestigious acknowledgement of his skill and creative vision.

Artist Statement

"I’ve been working from the Clocktower studio for over Five years now. It’s become a creative home that’s allowed me to develop my love of drawing and painting — something that has sustained me throughout my life.

My work focuses on botanical subjects and food still lifes, largely realistic and figurative in style. I use traditional materials like oils and graphite, and recently I’ve embraced coloured pencil to bring a contemporary, sometimes playful twist to my pieces.

Since 2014, I’ve exhibited across the UK, and my work is now in private collections worldwide. Having pieces published has also helped bring my art to a wider audience — and I hope to keep connecting with people through it.”
